EYFS

Dragonflies – Mrs S. Burke

Grasshoppers – Mrs K. Barrow

Welcome back! We hope you all had a wonderful Easter break.

Our whole-school topic this term is ‘Let’s Explore!’ This exciting theme will take us on adventures through stories, nature and the world around us. Our learning will be inspired by well-loved traditional tales including We’re Going on a Bear Hunt, The Gingerbread Man, Little Red Riding Hood, The Little Red Hen, and Jack and the Beanstalk.

Through these books, and through our Understanding the World curriculum, we will journey into forests, gardens, rivers, woodlands and magical story places. We’ll discover different settings, compare environments, explore seasonal changes, and develop curious minds as we notice how the world transforms in spring and summer.

We’ll also be budding scientists and explorers! The children will take part in hands-on investigations and outdoor learning, from woodland walks to Forest School sessions each week. This term also includes an exciting class trip, and later on we’ll enjoy our Summer Reading Picnic—a lovely event where we celebrate stories together outdoors.

Daily Phonics/reading and Maths lessons will continue, along with Drawing Club to develop imagination, vocabulary and creativity. Don’t forget to check Seesaw for daily updates and ways you can support learning at home.

Please continue hearing your child read regularly. Every time you record a reading session in their communication book, they earn a shiny—these add up to special prizes at the Shiny Shop, which the children absolutely love!

PE will now take place on Monday and Thursday. This term, we’ll be focusing on athletics, as well as starting Balance Ability, which helps children develop core strength, coordination and confidence. We’ll also be working on fundamental movement and gross motor skills.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to speak to a member of the EYFS team.
