EYFS
Dragonflies - Mrs S. Burke
Grasshoppers - Mrs K. Barrow
Welcome back! We hope you all had an enjoyable Easter.
Our whole school topic this term is ‘Climate Change.’ Our topic will be taught through the following stories
· Dear Zoo
· The Giraffe who Can’t Dance
· Elmer
· The Tiger Who Came to Tea
· We’re Going on a Bear Hunt
· Rumble in the Jungle
· Commotion in the Ocean
As part of our topic the children will be given the opportunity to visit the Bristol Zoo Project.
The children will learn about different habitats around the world and the animals that live there. They will also learn about similarities and differences between themselves and other people around the world including climate, way of life, foods and traditions.
During our practical maths sessions, the children will continue with the Mastering Number programme focusing on doubling, halving and the composition of numbers up to 10.
We will also begin learning Set 2 sounds from the RWI programme along with our very successful ‘Drawing Club’ sessions where we are seeing great progress with the children’s confidence and writing ability.
Please continue to hear your child read regularly. They receive a shiny for each entry into their communication book and are rewarded with a prize from the shiny shop which they love. They also love to take part in our reading raffles at the end of each term.
PE will continue to take place on Mondays and Thursdays (alternating between the 2 classes.) Our focus this term will be throwing, catching and some dance. We will also be starting some ‘bikeability’ sessions. We have some new balance bikes for your children to explore and this will develop their resilience and perseverance. These sessions will run on Friday mornings.
Forest School sessions will continue Monday afternoons too.
Finally, feel free to come and see a member of the team if you have any questions.
